ARNIE'S STORY...
'Audacious and probably mad'... is how you would describe our friend, Yarra Ranges local, Arnold Dix when he fearlessly declared 'he would get 41 men stuck in an Indian mine in the Himalayas out before Christmas'. With the mountain in avalanche mode and the Gods angry, the odds were not in anyones favour.

Yet Arnie, the president of the International Tunnel Association knew in his heart and with his expertise in farming, law, engineering and geology - that those young men WERE going to make it home.

Arnie is more than an engineer, tunnel expert, truck driver (and even a Barrister). He's a self proclaimed nerd, a fixerer uperer of organs, a bad flower farmer and most importantly for us, he tells a good yarn.

And now he's written a book - 'The Promise, how an everyday hero, made the impossible possible' and with Healesville's Verso Books, is coming to Babajis to share this amazing story first hand.

 To honour Arnie's experience in the Himalayan Mountains, Babaji's very own North Indian chef Raghov, will be cooking a special North Indian thali especially for the night.
