Our humble beginnings began in a fisherman’s village on the Arabian coast in Kerala, South India; where an Australian girl meets an Indian boy with Mallu spice running through his veins. Cooking his way to her heart, together they ran a restaurant catering for visitors from around the world and climbing the ranks to become Trip Advisor’s number 1 restaurant in Kerala.
Together they explored India, relishing her street food from train stations to alleyways, until eventually settling in the mountains of Melbourne. Passionate to share their love of Indian street food and Keralan truckstop dining; Babaji’s Kitchen was born. Cooking Keralan dosa on the streets of the Dandenong Mountains since 2014; Babaji’s Kitchen can now be spotted bringing authentic Indian street food action to large festivals across Victoria, including the Queen Victoria Night Market as well as wowing guests at private and corporate events.
Fast forward to 2017, two adopted rescue dogs later and Babajis Kitchen has laid down it’s roots ~ starting its first street food café in Puffing Billy’s hometown, Belgrave.
Serving street food favourites and South Indian thali ~ Babaji’s Kitchen is fast becoming a Melbourne institution.
